Irish Book and Film Club

We meet once per month to discuss a book by an Irish writer/author over a few drinks. We have just finished and discussed our first book, the epic Strumpet City by James Plunkett. It centred on the seminal lockout of 20,000 workers in Dublin in 1913 and made for a lively discussion covering many topics.
This month we are reading the book Seek the Fair Land by Walter Macken. It is a fictional account of history and events surrounding the Cromwellian Invasions of Ireland. We will meet Wednesday, April 29 th 2015, 7pm upstairs at the Irish Centre to discuss it and decide on a new book to read. Everyone is welcome . The more who are present the merrier. Just show up.
Occasionally we will hold side events e.g speakers associated with Irish Literature. We will also arange for Irish films to be shown at suitable venues around Tyneside. See website or get in touch if you wish to be on the mailing list.
