Professor Roy Foster is Carroll Professor of Irish History at Hertford College, Oxford. He is one of the distinguished historians of his generation. Roy is the author of a number of important books, including the authorised two-volume biography of W. B. Yeats and Modern Ireland.

Roy’s most recent book is Vivid Faces: The Revolutionary Generation in Ireland, 1890-1923. The book recreates the argumentative, exciting and subversive lives of people who made a revolution, as well as the disillusionment in which it ended.
